Right across the street from the popular Taco Bell, Mexico Viejo provides a great late night alternative to the plastic factory accross the street. Located in a small shopping center with a Dairy Queen on the outskirts of the main Encinitas drag, this place is well worth the trip. Mexico Viejo is always clean and well kept. The employees are always helpful and will cater to your needs. No matter what is ordered, you are guaranteed to be satisfied. My personal favorite, the Carne Asada Burrito is a 10. Their tortillas are soft and will never "blow up" like some of the drier tortillas of the neighboring companies. To follow up the great burritos is their great salsa bar. Always well stocked and fresh, they provide a choice between 4 different salsas and always provide the "spicy carrots". Try them with the lime. ITS THE BOMB. Great chefs (yes, chefs with red hats), video games, and a classy mural painted on the North wall, all seal the mexican deal and provide for an unforgettable experience. LATE NIGHT!!! Enough said.
