Murrieta's (Bonita, CA)
Score: 8 / 10 Reviewed by: oshinnluv
Murrieta's is a sit down restaurant, not a taco shop in the traditional sense (i.e. you're supposed to tip someone before you leave) but the food is authentic despite the lack of plastic trays and self-serve drink stations. Everything is reasonably priced for a restaurant and the service is impeccable. I've been there many times for family gatherings and I usually order the same thing: chicken chimichanga. Basically a fried burrito covered with all manner of delicious sauces and toppings. The chicken is broiled and carefully seasoned, moist in texture and juicy but not overly so. Guacamole, sour cream, and salsa are bountiful and well integrated into the flavors as a whole. It's not spicy, but is very clean tasting. This is a burrito that you have to eat with a fork-picking it up is not even a possibility. Flanked by a solid helping of rice and beans, I often find unfinished food on my plate when my stomach indicates satiation.
