Cuco's (San Francisco, CA)
Score: 9 / 10 Reviewed by: Pacer (Blacksburg, VA)
Cuco's is a friendly Salvadoran taqueria that serves great comfort food. It feels like an old standby, even if you've only eaten there a handful of times.
The plantain burrito is definitely a standout, even if it is a long wait. I don't remember enough about the meats to comment, but the smoky black beans, fresh pico de gallo (beware the spicy!), and creamy sour cream make for a very memorable vegetarian burrito.
Cuco's is one of the more distinctive taquerias in the city, and is certainly worth a visit. Get a burrito to go and enjoy it across the street at the Toronado, a beer bar that is another one of the city's unique treasures.
