I noticed Novysan had posted a great review for a place in West Hollywood that I had never been to ... and I consider that to be a Burrito-911. I got there at about 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon and saw a crowd of people in front of the place. It was a good cross-section of West Hollywood (grungy kids, retirees, young families, groups of entertainment people, and a few GQ types). It didn't look like a "see-and-be-seen" crowd, so I figured they were probably there for the food. I looked over the (large) menu, where the two most likely burritos were carne asada and pork chile verde. I asked the guy at the counter which he preferred, and he said if hot was OK, the chile verde was the way to go. I've never found chile verde burritos to have alot of complexity ... but when someone with inside knowledge gives me a recommendation, I usually take it.

I had such high hopes, and clearly it is within their power to make a great vegetarian burrito, but they don’t. Their chips are amazing. I really like (not love) all three salsas, but the refried beans destroy everything. Burritos are served plated, but I have them wrap mine in foil (no wax paper). Their Vegetarian Burrito is like a fresh salad smothered with refried beans. I’m frustrated because I want to like this place. I’ve been back a few times, and the result is a slight thumbs down. The fact that they sell one of the most expensive burritos in town doesn’t help the matter.

I'm glad there's a 8.5. Be prepared to WAIT in line if you get there during the lunch or dinner rush.

Where to begin. As a Chicago native, and spending significant amounts of time in SF, the clouds opened and the angels sang when I discovered Tere's. Many different styles to choose from too. All made fresh to order. Perfectly spiced meat, awesome balance of ingredients.

It only misses a 9 because the size leaves a little to be desired, but everything else is perfect.
