I'm not sure why people like this place, other than for the taqueria gap they close in the Outer Sunset. I've had nothing but weak burritos there.

Let me preface by saying that I'm a vegetarian and thus can't speak to the meat factor -- but the super bean and cheese tube told me everything I needed to know. The ingredients taste cheap. The refried beans taste like they came out of a giant can purchased at Smart & Final.

My biggest beef with this place, however, is the signage. I bristle everytime I see the mustachioed chili pepper in the sombrero taking a nap under a palm tree (or whatever it is). Even the name of the place rubs me the wrong way. Given that I've only ever seen Latin folks working there, I would assume it's owned by a Latin person? ... and if so, why would s/he choose to base the logo (and name) on degrading Latin stereotypes?

Sorry, that's been bugging me for awhile. I see great potential in the place... I mean, get a load of that space. It's huge! The brick work is quite nice. Last time I was there, they'd added a really good salsa bar. I just wish the food actually lived up to the potential, and that the signage didn't offend me.

I discovered this place about 2 years ago when they were relatively new and they have drastically improved over time. The above reviewer is correct in mentioning the "2nd day factor" of El Beach Burrito, but neglects to mention their fresh salsa bar- arguably the best part of the taqueria. Seriously folks, get the green salsa! They have a very nice breakfast burrito on weekends with egg, chorizo & potatoes, if they had it all week, I would probably eat there more. Their super burrito is a perfect size for a big appetite, without being so big that it takes 2 meals to eat. They have fresh flavorful Carne Asada, that is very juicy. Burritos travel OK, but their soft tacos will get soggy over time, so best to eat the tacos (which are royally stufed with meat!) in person. Given their location, El Beach Burrito really is a nice oasis of delicious burritodom in the waaay Outer Sunset. Within city limits this is one of the top 5 not located in the Mission.

Near to the beach, and to Java Beach for that matter, El Beach Burrito is a welcome addition to the sorely lacking neighborhood of the Sunset District. Its facilities are clean, the ingredients are fresh, and the burrito overall is fairly robust.

Meats: prepared well, bland spicing / seasoning. Tastes like any other burrito joint. Serves Fish.

Burrito: Steamed, wrapped in foil. Stayed together, and didn't destroy itself upon consumption.

Beans: Pinto, Black, or Refried. Black beans were pretty decent, nothing amazing.

Rice: Typical spanish / mexican fare, was a bit crunchy for my tastes, but was tasty.

In a non-typical fashion, I was only able to eat half the burrito, so I stashed the second half for the next day. The tortilla became gross and slimy but the rest of the burrito was excellent.

Overall, if you're nearing the end of the N line and you want something awesome to eat, check it out.
