quite the bomb burritos. excellent service and atmosphere. The carne asada could use a slightly better cut of steak and a tad more seasoning. Portions are huge for the price. My favorite on the menu are the rolled tacos and the steak quesadilla. Both come with the best guac in the north county. The salsa has a sweet unique flavor that really bones down with the cheese like a redheaded cheerleader on prom night.

Burritogasm! I've been going to this place for years and it's still my favorite burrito in all of southern California, LA included. It's what I call a 'minimal' burrito or also 'San Diego' style- no beans, no rice, no lettuce, nothing except a whole bunch of marinated chunky meat, a bit of guacamole and a bit of pico de gallo. Nobody in LA knows how to make 'em like that- they're too busy stuffing it with all this stuff that isn't carne asada.
Excellent meat, excellent marinade, excellent tortillas, excellent guac and pico. Awesome. Large, but not the gargantuan size. Salsa bar with a few choices, but I always go for one of the bottles they keep in the fridge. Don't know if it's the same stuff as in the salsa bar, but it's really great. Also at the salsa bar (super mild) marinated carrots and jalapenos and I think some other stuff like onions and cilantro.
Highest recommendation for Kotija Jr. I'm only occasionally down in San Diego, but when I go this place is absolutely top of the list, first place I think of for the perfect burrito.
Inside seating or covered patio. Restrooms yes. Small free parking lot.

After Filiberto's (down the street) had their ownership crisis, their portions have gotten signficantly less colossal. I was recently referred to Kotija, which as far as I'm concerned, now carries the torch as the area's finest taco shop. I got a mammoth bean and cheese burrito that tasted fantastic, including flavorful cheese and beans that were not too runny at all. Also had a carne asada taco that was generously loaded with fresh guacamole and surprisingly devoid of the usual gristle. All this for $5. They had Mountain Dew and Orange Bang, my two favorite choices, as well as a couple different tasty hot sauces to choose from. Great taco shop.
