Adelita's is an archetypical San Jose taqueria, tucked in the middle of an anonymous strip mall. When I visited, it was the only place in the mall that was doing any business at all; a good sign. Adelita's is warm and cozy, complete with friendly staff and bursts of hi-NRG dance music coming over the PA.

1st timers won't be unhappy about this place!!

You must order a "Carne Asada" Super Burrito. It has lots of fresh ingredients.

Beans, rice,Cheese, salsa, sour cream, and full chunks of avocado.I ADD CILANTRO and JALAPENOS. Topped off w/ a bunch of
awesome tasting steak. It has a different taste but good than anywhere else ive had a SUPER "CA" burrito.

I am interested in finding more good things on their menu. I suggest you try it.

ASK FOR "ROBERT", and tell em joey sent you!!

enjoy.

I would say the best I have ever had, and I am a burrito whore. Carne asada was great, awesome sauce selection. I should have ordered 2 super burritos...I am not going to bring my score down for stupid reasons, the burrito spoke for itself. This type of burrito I could eat everyday.

wow, I just went to Adelita's Taqueria for the first time a couple weeks ago.. and I must say it was amazing. Walking inside, the environment was very nice to eat in, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. Having such wonderful service always starts your meal off well. I ordered a couple Super Al Pastor tacos, which were incredible. What i love the most about this place is that they guarantee that you'll love it, if not, they always ask me how they can make it better..but if you ask me...ITS ALREADY A TASTE OF HEAVEN. I live right by there, I don't know why I never gave it a try. I recently tried their Shrimp Ceviche on the weekend... wow. It is so good! I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good, fresh, authentic mexican food. Amazing..

it was my friend's comment after we left. I had a huge super Al Pastor burrito, and I loved it from start to the end. I highly recommend "Adelita's to anybody. Try their new sauce!!!

My wife and I shared a chicken super burrito with the works. The meat was tender and there was no rice in the burrito. The chunks of avocado were a little too large. We ordered sour cream but it was not evident in our burrito. The chips with salsa and guacamole were inexpensive, but the salsa and guacamole were both a little watery. We would go back if were are in the neighborhood, but would not go out of our way. We were a little disappointed since there were so many good reviews for this place.

I'm with the few other reviewers of this place. It sucks. Well, that might be a bit harsh, but there is really nothing I like about it...oh yea other than
the decor. It's just around the corner from my son's school so when I go on Friday's to pick him up I've held out for lunch and tried this place a couple of times. I've had a chicken and vegetarian and neither was worth eating. The only thing I could comment was they were fast and hot. No flavor, nothing even resembling taste at all. I gave it a couple tries and will never go back.

The best way to describe this place is Burrito Bliss! Finally, I found a place on burritophile that I can call my favorite. I always order a super burrito with carne asada or pollo asado. The chicken is grilled chicken breast, unlike some other places. It's a medium-large sized burrito that fills you up but I rarely have leftovers (it's hard to stop eating once you start). Other places may offer you a larger and more filling burrito, but none of them taste this good! The meat is slightly seasoned and has a beautiful aroma. All ingredients are well integrated (beans, rice, guacamole, and sour cream), and the salsa alone gets an 8.5. Service is friendly and prompt and you can watch them build your burrito before your eyes. To top it all off, prices are very fair. The only down side is they don't give free chips and salsa. However they do have a jalapeno bar with fresh and pickled peppers, limes, and red and green hot sauces. I live about 1 hour away, but still find a way to make it out to Adelita's as often as possible. Quite possibly the perfect burrito!

I decided to try this place out after reading the reviews on this site. When I walked in, the place was very clean and filled with Mexican popular culture memorabilia. It was a nice touch. I just I hoped that my burrito was as good as their decorating. The chips tasted like they came from the monster tortilla bag from Costco. The chips were not authentic at all. They were something I would expect at a picnic with hot dogs. I ordered the Carne Asada (super) and the Vegetarian for my girlfriend. The meat in my Asada was sort of blaaa and dry. This burrito just didn't do it for me. If I had a choice between this place and Baja Fresh, I'd rather go to Baja because I can get a better tasting burrito with their salsa and Cholula.

This burrito place needs less watered down green/red salsa, better quality cheese, better guacamole taste, fresh off the grill meat, and better chips. Oh, the salsa fresca was pretty good but needed a bit of hot spice to it since it had nothing.

I agree with several other reviewers. Adelita's is good, but there are several other Taqueria's that are equivalent. I have had the carnitas and the steak burritos. They were both good, with decent size portions, and fast service.

I would recommend a visit, but I wouldn't limit myself to Adelita's alone as there are other choices in the vicinity that are just as good.

Ummmm....this does not belong at the top of this list. This is a joke right. Adelitas might be one of the best in San Jose,(La Taqueria) but there are just a ton of burrito places and Mexican places in general that serve far better food. I had a *soggy* burrito. Thats not the norm, but that is less than I expect from Taco Bell. It really pissed me off and I actually tossed it and went to Wendy's. Its usually good to really good food but I dont know if Im going back now. You really have to be stupid to pass up La Tapatia, La Bamba, and La Taqueria(Downtown SJ) in order to go to this place.

Adelita's has a lot going for it, it is a very clean and friendly place. The food is fresh and tasty. I have tried it twice and enjoyed it both times. I just got finished eating a huge bean and cheese burrito and would like to comment. The ingredients were very fresh and of high quality. The burrito stayed and didnt fall apart. Based on taste i would rate this a 8.5 but the establishment is so nice and clean i would say over all a solid 9. Maybe even 9.5 with the a/c i was enjoying

Adelita’s Taqueria

Clean, bright, with colorful Mexican posters and cheery Latino music.
Friendly - the young woman at the cash register has a lilt in her voice and a smile that makes most of the ambient lighting unnecessary
Fast!
Substantial -Grilled tortilla firmly wrapped around steaming hot contents, well-insulated with foil, barely fitting in its oblong plastic basket.

My super al pastor, no sour cream, had only tortilla, beans, and avocado in the first several bites. When I got to the chunks of spicy, crisped pork in light salsa it was almost like a second course. If I had started at the meaty end, I might have been able to stop eating when the meat ran out, but it would have been unnatural to leave a single morsel of that pork, so I ate the whole thing. (My colleague’s super carnitas did not have this integration problem – maybe it’s a peculiarity of the al pastor.)

Customers while we were there included a couple of Latina mamas with sub-six-year-olds in tow, a quartet of Mexican construction workers, a number of yuppie-ish office refugees, a grizzled guy who looked like he’d passed the night on a bench, and a trio of San Jose policemen “Ah!” breathed my colleague with satisfaction when he spied them. “Now we KNOW it’s going to be good.”

And it was.

This is a good one! I worked close by and had a handfull of mediocre taquerias to choose from. Adelita's opened and was top notch from day one. My only odd experiece there was while I was thoroughly enjoying a vegetarian burrito. About half way through it was getting a little soggy, so I turned it over to see if I could drain it. I could. About a cup of bean juice came out. I filled my plate with juice. No big deal. The burrito was delish, but a unique experience.

My favorite here is the Al Pastor. I rarely or Al Pastor anywhere, but I had a recommendation for it here. Fantastic! So much delicious, complex flavor.

EDIT: I'm really disappointed that someone (perhaps the owner) is unfairly rating taquerias in San Jose that are more highly rated than Adelita's. Until this is either fixed by the offending party (preferably) or the intrepid editorial staff at burritophile, my score will be the lowest possible, and I will not return.

[original review]
Adelita's is out of the way for some (perhaps most), but not so far that it isn't worth a stop.

The shop is clean and bright inside. I showed up in mid-afternoon, and it was pretty slow. There were a couple of people who seemed to be regulars hanging about. Nonetheless, service was quick and friendly. My carne asada burrito was prepped with extreme speed. Integration was near-perfect; the only issues were a tortilla breach near the end and the avocados were still cool, which, although it does speak of their freshness, gives a strange sensation of in-mouth temperature. It was also not as spicy as I'd have liked. I have to dock just a bit for these minor issues.

Good horchata, too: very cinnamon-y.

Here is yet another rave for this out-of-the-way spot. With each visit Adelita’s climbs higher on my short list of taquerias in San Jose. They have the comfortable neighborhood atmosphere, friendly staff and, of course, really good food.

I had a carnitas super burrito. It came to the table quickly and was devoured almost as fast. Juicy chunks of salty pork wedged into a potent mixture of beans, rice and salsa.

There’s no salsa bar to speak of so you pickled carrot and potato fans are totally going to be bummed out. Parking was ample.

Viva Adelita!

The last time I was there I was impressed with the number of Spanish-speaking customers they had. Adelita's Carne Asada Super Burrito is a little bit (a lot?) of heaven.

It's worth a detour to taste their freshly made, authentic burritos. They ask whether you want it spicy (I do) and you take it to your table with squirt bottles of red and green sauce. Add a soft drink and a handful of napkins, and admire the mural as you munch.

I think I am less enthusiastic about this place than others seem to be. I felt that it was not spectacular, 'though it was good. I ordered a super veggie burrito w/o cheese (vegan). I came with hongos (grilled mushrooms), rice, whole pinto beans, salsa, and avocado. I was disappointed with the whole beans, but the mushrooms gave it a nice flavor. The interesting factoid about the mushrooms is that they are listed under "meats"! There was also a micro-salsa bar -- don't depend upon it for variety. Although the burrito itself came wrapped in foil, it did not come with chips -- the chips had to be ordered separately. The burrito was well-integrated but the tortilla got a bit soggy. Recommended, but not so much that it's worth going out of your way for.

Fresh ingredients, yes. I liked this place because is clean, pleasant and in a good location. My favorite burrito, well first, carnitas burrito, second best shrimp burrito. You add the green or red salsa to spice it. I do not really like spicy food, but you do not need to add salsa for flavor, the burritos taste good anyway. You should try!!! That's why my family like this place.

This is a very nice taqueria, run by very profesional people. The food is great, fresh salsa, not too spicy and not too bland.
The taqueria is very clean, nice flowers in each table, friendly service, is fast, and the food portions are big. If you are a vegetarian the veggie burrito is a must, and my favorite mushroom quesadilla. For the meat eaters torta de carne asada, try the shrimp burrito and do not forget the aguas frescas, delicious!!!!
