La Taqueria is a large place in downtown SJ. It's generally clean inside, even though the exterior of the location might not indicate this. Service was on the less-than-superior side, however.

I ordered a chorizo super burrito. It was on the pricey side ($7.75), contained no rice and very few (whole pinto) beans. The meat was the definite centerpiece here, but it also seemed more central than it should have been. Cheese, sour cream, and avocado were plentiful enough. The tortilla was steamed and somewhat glutenous. It was not spicy enough for me, but it was spicier than many other burritos I've had elsewhere. The salsa verde in squeeze bottles on the table only helped this a little.

First, I must say, going to La Taqueria and NOT getting the carne asada burrito is like going to Disneyland and staying in the parking lot.

This is the sister restaurant of the La Taqueria in San Francisco, in the Mission - where I first encountered their carne asada with avacado - MY FAVE burrito of all time. Yes, its small. But excellent. Try the green sauce on the table for some flavorful fire.

    Try it!

This place claims to have the "Best Tacos & Burritos in the Whole World".

Noelle had the veggie burrito (beans, cheese, fresh salsa, hot sauce) with extra avocado and sour cream. The lack of rice was problematic. It was very squishy. But, the fresh salsa was very good with lots of garlic.

Robert had the veggie burrito, hold the cheese and avocado extra. So, this was basically a tortilla wrapped around some beans, a little salsa, and some avocado. It was miniscule. (The rice, as specified above, would have filled it out. But, there was no rice in the entire place.) The tortilla was steamed and a little mushy. The beans were thankfully refried. Nevertheless, it was tasty, but not outstanding. The table salsa was good. No chips were served (I usually prefer to eat my burritos with chips).
