I heart El Cid. As Senor O says, location and atmosphere are tops. The ladies that work there are always nice. The veggie burrito is pretty damned good. Don't even begin to think that those marks on the burrito look suspiciously akin to Foreman Grill marks. El Cid wouldn't do that to you. Either way, I will eat any burrito that has met a grill press. They have great fried fish stuff happening here. The Guac is good, if a little pricey. Margaritas are right on time. This is another good place to watch people break up. Why is it all the joints with good burritos have break ups taking place when I eat there? Hm. Soups are good, tacos are good, breakfast I haven't done yet. Maybe when I get a job and therefore a reason to wake in the A.M., I will report on the breakfast.

In terms of location and atmosphere, El Cid is peerless. Its across the street from the Logan Square El stop, they've got a front and back patio as well as a full bar. The margaritas are big and priced fair. They've got a full selection of mexican beer as well as sodas and other standard drinks. The burritos are usually great. I've tried most of the meats and I've never been disappointed. The Al pastor burrito is my old standby. Not too greasy, but greasy enough. The veggie is the best in town. It has this great yellow rice in it as well as beans and whatever else they can scrounge up. Warning: I've seen people make the mistake of getting their burrito "Suizo" style. This means that they will put about a pound of greasy jack cheese on top of your burrito. This may sound appetizing but I've never seen anyone put one of these away and look good afterwards. Good luck.
