El Atacor Taqueria #11 (Los Angeles, CA)
Score: 6 / 10 Reviewed by: Mark
There have been 3 or 4 different restaurants operating out of this address in the past 25 years. El Atacor opened this one (a mile down from #1) about five years ago. These are the only El Atacors I have patronized, but while their menus and prices are similar, their burritos are not.
They are most famous for their super-burritos (which are indeed very large) but I go for flavor over size every time. This is a review of their regular carne asada con todo. It is about 20% beans, 40% rice and 40% small chunks of (apparently nicely stewed) beef, with a little onion, cillantro and dried-red-chili sauce on top of it.
The (stewed) meat is indeed very flavorful, but there was not much other flavor to complement it ... hence my rating of "shows promise".
