BTB Burrito (Ann Arbor, MI)

Near the very busy corner of State and Packard in Ann Arbor MI sits BTB Burrito. After a visit with some friends in Ann Arbor, it was time for me to give this place a try. I had tried the Packard location a few years before. Was it a clone? Not exactly, but a reliable tasty burrito nonetheless.
BTB on State is a tiny place. There is but a single long table with 8 chairs around it. A tv is in the corner. The walls are adorned with doctored scenes from various movies, such as Scarface holding a massive burrito as his 'little friend'.
I went with the Deluxe grilled chicken burrito. Unlike the regular, it adds sour cream and guac. It arrived just a couple minutes after ordering. The burrito was not overly well-wrapped. The tortilla was luke warm, very lightly speckled as though it had barely touched the grill. I dove in. Integration could have been better. The first third of the burrito was mainly rice, and the cheese was not entirely melted. After that first third, things improved. However, the chicken didn't have a punch- i would not have known it was grilled without it being advertised. Meanwhile, the guac was sparse and needed to be stronger. Overall, the slab was fine and filling, but lacked a certain wow factor. It didn't come together as more than the sum of it's parts.
Chips and salsa come with your burrito. The chips are pretty standard, but you have your choice of three salsas. The mild pico seemed fresh, and tasted mainly of tomato with little to support it. The hot green salsa has a genuine kick and very rich tomatillo flavor.
It has been a couple years, but this place just didn't seem to match the Packard location. Odd that the child location is now superior to the original, but that's what my memory tells me. State's is still a decent burrito, and i'd never have an issue eating one from here, but some extra seasoning would go a long way.
