El Charrito Taqueria (San Carlos, CA)

El Charrito is right on the corner of Holly Street and El Camino Real in San Carlos. It's impossible to miss, but easy to forget.
Inside, the taqueria is nice and clean, moderately sized. I went with the chile verde super burrito. It was served shortly therafter on a paper plate. Even before i unwrapped it, this short, squat burrito seemed unstable. Sure enough, i had to keep two hands on it at all times to prevent its collapse. The first two bites were mostly tortilla with bits of cheese and sour cream. Eventually, i got to the main ingredients. The pork itself was ok, but it was not at all infused with any verde flavor. Their verde is essentially carnitas with a bit of green sauce- the meat had not been simmered. Almost all the green sauce ended up in one small area, except for the rest that leaked out the bottom. Overall, quite unimpressive.
There is a salsa bar here, with white corn chips, a red and dark green salsa, both thick and liquidy. The salsas were the best part of the meal, actually, both having a nice spice with a bit of a kick.
The super burrito here is $5.50. A pretty typical for most places, but this is a sub par burrito.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. If you're in the area, it might be worth a try. But Mi Ranchito a few blocks away is far superior.
