I'd been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. On a busy business trip to the Bay Area, i convinced a coworker we could sneak in a burrito before our company event. Both she and i are glad we did. These are simply great burritos.
Guadalajara has a nice friendly atmosphere: a couple tv's in the corner, big comfy chairs throughout. We went to the counter right at the front door and placed our order. I went with the carnitas, while my friend went with the veggie wet style. We were given some chips and went to check out the salsa bar. There are a number of options here, all fresh and full of flavor. I was particularly fond of their cactus and red salsas. I also gave their habanero mango salsa a try. Despite the heat of molten lava in my mouth, it was still vibrant and tasty.
About 10 minutes later, our burritos arrived. Mine was built to perfection- solid with or without the foil. It was love at first bite. The carnitas were crispy yet moist. The ingredients were well dispersed thoughout, and it was hot and melty in the center. Every bite seemed to have a bit of everything. I might have preferred guacamole instead of pure avocado chunks, but this is a minor quibble. The tortilla was flaky, slightly dry, yet stayed intact without any major cracks forming. My friend was so enamoured with hers that despite her small frame she ate the entire thing.
Simply put, this is a fantastic burrito and would become a regular haunt of mine if i lived in the area. I will definitely be back.
